A legendary Tollywood lyric writer Veturi Jayanthi today. His full name is Veturi Sundara Ramamurthy. He was born on 29th January, 1936 to Chandrasekhar sastry and Kamalamba in kolluru near Tenali, Gunturu District and he was hailed from his native place Peda Kallepalli village, Near machilipatnam, Krishna Dt.. He is a nephew of a Telugu research scholar Veturi Prabhakar sastry and grandfather of a poet Veturi Sundara Sastry. He completed his schooling in Diviseema. He has completed his Degree in SRR Government College, Vijayawada and he was a student of popular poet and writer Viswanadha Satyanarayana there in SRR College. After the completion of his education, he joined in Andhra Prabha in the year 1952 as a Journalist. He has considered Narla Venkateswara Rao as his first Guru where he taught the editing of a news article. Later in 1959, he joined in Andhra Patrika and Bapu and Mullapudi Venkataramana were collegues.He worked as a editor for AP Committee official news paper Andhra Janatha.He was also an Assembly reporter in the year 1964.He was the first Telugu journalist who was interviewed Jawaharlal Nehru, Prime minister of India in 1962 when he came to inaugurate the Srisailam Hydroelectricity Project. He covered the speeches of our legendary national leaders like sarvepalli Radhakrishna.Later on the request of legendary hero NTR, he became a lyricist in the film Industry. He wrote a Harikatha for the K.Viswanadh’s film “o Seetha Kadha” His carrer in Tollywood film industry spanned for more than four decades. He was taken heaven abode on 22nd May, 2010.
