Vishwaroopam-2 Movie Review

Movie: Vishwaroopam-2

Rating: 2.75/5.0

Writing and Direction: Kamal Hasaan

Behind the Screens:

Universal Hero Kamal Hasaan has revived his much-delayed project, Vishwaroopam-2 and is releasing the movie himself. The actor who has forayed into Politics recently is hoping to have a hit under his belt before the elections. Let us see how the movie releasing today fares with the audience.

Storyline:

Wisam Ahmed Kashmiri (Kamal Haasan) has successfully helped the United State in foiling a deadly attack in New York and is next assigned on a mission in the United Kingdom. Wisam, his Wife, Team, and Handler were attacked right after their landing. While they are after the conspirator, Omar (Rahul Bose) is still alive and is plotting one more disaster. Rest is all about how Wisam saves his country.

Star Shine:

Kamal Hasaan walks through effortlessly as alway and is pretty good. A scene with his mother is exemplary and he did most of the action sequences without a dupe. Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah, Shekar Kapur have fit into the roles they are offered. Rahul Bose is excellent as the villain so is Waheed Rahman. Jaideep Ahlawat is okay as Salim.

Technical:

Kamal Haasan has written and directed Vishwaroopam-2. He chose to narrate the film using Back and Forth Screenplay with Prequel episodes being better. There are also no awe moments and Predictability on the top of it, gets Kamal poor marks both as a writer and director. The Background score by Ghibran is superb. Sham Dutt, Shainuddin, Shanu John Varghese’s Cinematography is good. Editing could have been a lot better. Production Values are okay.

Analysis:

Vishwaroopam-2 is largely disappointing, unlike the First Part. We find the Prequel episodes somewhat better. Given that the characters are already known, there is too much predictability. The first half is stretched for 90 minutes and tests the patience of the audience after the first interesting 20 minutes or so. The second half is better than first half with speedy screenplay. The climax is further rushed. The action blocks which helped the second half  is totally missing in the First Part making it a big disappointment.

Movie Marks:

Vishwaroopam-2: First Half disappointing and second half pulled with speedy screenplay.
