2020 is a big nightmare for the film industry. Due to the outbreak of coronavirus, film theaters were shut down from the last couple of months. With no choice left, many films that were ready to release are heading towards direct OTT release. To cash on the craze, OTT platforms are offering fancy prices to grab the rights. Though other platforms like Netflix, Zee5, and Disney Hotstar are offering good prices, most of the producers are closing deals with Amazon Prime Video only.
Buzz is that Amazon Prime Video is quite quick to finalize a deal and offers to clear all the signed amount within 30 days after the films was streamed in the site. But when it comes to some other sites such as Netflix, they are taking 3-6 months to process, and producers are not in a mood to wait for such long. This is the main reason why Amazon, pushing remaining OTT platforms away in grabbing the rights of new films.
