Will Rajini Help Distributors To Overcome Losses?

Two days the news has come out that Super Star Rajinikanth’s awaited film “Robo 2.0” Telugu version screening rights were bought by Global Cinema for whopping amounts. This news was officially confirmed by Robo 2.0 team through their official twitter page. They tweeted, “2.0 – SOLD OUT for a Whopping Price !! AP and Telangana !!! Lyca Productions & Global Cinema partnership is a “History in the Making”!!!”.
According to a source close to the production house, the rights were bought for a whopping Rs 80 crore. This is a record price for a dubbed film releasing in Telugu. But sources say that Global Cinema’s team are in high tension mood because they are worrying will local distributors and exhibitors come forward to exhibit this film or not. Because Rajini’s earlier released films turned as disasters and chucked buyers into losses.
It is an open fact Rajinikanth enjoys a tremendous fan following across the worldwide and despite huge fan base, recently his films are not running successfully at the box office. From past two years, he is delivering back to back flops. Much hyped “Kochadaiiyaan”, “Lingaa” and “Kabali” remarked as flops at the box office and the distributors who bought those films rights went into huge losses.
Rajini’s last release “Kabali” which released last year marked as disaster failure in Telugu. It is known that people who distributed Rajini’s Kabali in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, suffered losses up to Rs 30crs. Prior to Kabali, Lingaa and Kochadaiyan too landed them in losses.
Now many are wondering will Rajinikanth save the distributors with blockbuster hit Robo sequel Robo 2.0. This film has huge hype in Film Nagar circles and many expecting that it will repeat the records of “Robo”.
This film is directed by Shankar which was entirely shot with 3D cameras. Amy Jackson is playing the female lead while Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar is playing the villain. The film already seems to be in demand with the satellite rights sold out for nearly Rs 110 crores in all the languages. Though there is a lot of time for the film release, filmmakers started pre release business. Currently, post production works are going on full swing. This film is planned to release in January 2018 as Sankranthi Visual treat to all film lovers.
